A Little Update – Summer 2026
Hi everyone!
We have come to that time of year when the harvest is rolling in and things are hopping at the sanctuary! I thought I’d share a few photos to give you a taste of the recent happenings.

Our aronia berries are going gang busters this year and we have a bumper crop coming in. At our meetup this last Saturday we harvested some for taking home.

We also celebrated the summertime with a reading of Arrow to the Sun: a Pueblo Indian tale by Gerald McDermott, and walking the beautiful trails of the sanctuary together.

Our craft was to make these whimsical “summer suns” which you can make for yourself too if you’d like! The straw flowers that we used were grown by someone in our community. Thank you to Amy S.!

We also still have many cats coming for shelter at the sanctuary. The one below has been with us for a year now, living outside because we have no more room in the house. He would really like to have a home though and be someone’s kitty. I tried contacting another shelter a few weeks ago, but am still getting no shelters to take any of our cats – I think because they live outside so they think they are all “barn cats” and have someplace to live already.

I apologize for not keeping the updates coming so regularly lately. We’ve had some computer issues and had to do a major overhaul to get things running again, but I think we’ve gotten it taken care of now. So I’m planning to post here more regularly again.

She and her family live at the 21-acre Crossing Hedgerows Sanctuary, where daily life reflects a commitment to simplicity, beauty, and harmony with the land. The sanctuary includes gardens, woodland trails, a seasonal creek, gathering circles, and spaces designed to nourish both people and wildlife. Jean is especially passionate about creating environments that are grounding, beautiful, and spiritually restorative.
Through her writing and teaching, Jean encourages others to know themselves, know creation, and recognize Christ as the living truth present within and around us—always inviting a return to love, beauty, and the sacred order of life.
