Sunday, October 13th at 1:00 pm (originally planned for Sept. 28th)

Topic: The Element of Fire 🔥

We are energetic beings. How can we take care of ourselves better in relation to the life force energy within and surrounding us? We will talk about the concept of a biofield, which is similar to other traditional notions of a life force or vital energy found in many cultures, such as qi in Chinese medicine, prana in Ayurvedic medicine, and ki in Japanese healing practices.

We will experience a recorded biofield tuning, using tuning forks, by Eileen Day McKusick, author of the books: Tuning the Human Biofield, and Electric Body, Electric Health.

We will then do some forest bathing to allow the healing effects of nature to work on our energetic fields. Being in the presence of these other beings can help regulate our systems. Eileen McKusick talks about how a strong coherent system will always overtake and entrain a weaker incoherent system. And when we heal our own systems, we help to buffer all the noise out there in the world too.

This meetup is part of our ongoing CHC meetups as described below:

How can we take small steps together in community to shift our lives towards healing on all levels? Integrating spirituality, ancient wisdom, and ecology to heal our lives and create deep friendships will be the purpose of this group.

Facilitated by Jean Cavanaugh, in each session we will dive into a topic, sample food using our farm fresh ingredients, and experience the healing of earth, water, air, and fire on the land of Crossing Hedgerows.

There will be a variety of activities such as meditation, art, movement, permaculture (and native plant) gardening, singing, crafts, magic, homesteading skills, and more! During our meet-ups, we will spiral through the different permaculture zones, as well as the elements, to gain greater understanding of our ecosystems and how to become empowered in our lives to create ever more inner and outer resiliency and abundance.

Each session will be $25 (or $20 for those at the “Friends” level or above on our Patreon – at Crossing Hedgerows Sanctuary). Payment for meet-ups will go directly to Jean as the facilitator. Please pay upon arrival.

RSVP by the end of the day on Friday, October 11th to reserve your spot.

Autumn Equinox Blessings to you all 💛

Jean

Jean Cavanaugh is the founder and steward of Crossing Hedgerows Sanctuary, established in 2019 as a living, learning community devoted to reconnecting people with the wisdom of nature, the sacred order of creation, and the presence of Christ within all life. Her work brings together spiritual formation, ecological stewardship, ancestral wisdom, and hands-on community practice.

Through years of practical work on the land, study of the Mysteries, and the healing of her own severe health challenges through natural methods, Jean has come to recognize God’s hand at work throughout creation. Her teachings, rooted in the Mystery School tradition and Christian gnosis, explore how the patterns of heaven, earth, and the human body reveal the way back to divine presence, peace, and inner strength.

Jean leads with honesty, integrity, and a deeply welcoming spirit, inviting others to let go of inherited assumptions and rediscover truth through lived experience and embodied understanding. She works with all ages—from preschoolers to elders—offering programs and celebrations that emphasize direct engagement with nature, music, story, homesteading skills, and in-person community.

She and her family live at the 21-acre Crossing Hedgerows Sanctuary, where daily life reflects a commitment to simplicity, beauty, and harmony with the land. The sanctuary includes gardens, woodland trails, a seasonal creek, gathering circles, and spaces designed to nourish both people and wildlife. Jean is especially passionate about creating environments that are grounding, beautiful, and spiritually restorative.

Through her writing and teaching, Jean encourages others to know themselves, know creation, and recognize Christ as the living truth present within and around us—always inviting a return to love, beauty, and the sacred order of life.
