Twisted Truth

What if you knew someone who was cutting themself and you took them to a psychiatrist, and instead of seeking the underlying reason why the person was so distraught as to be cutting themself you were told that cutting yourself is a perfectly ok thing to do. You were told in fact that we should support this person by giving them medication that masks the deeper issues and makes them feel alright about cutting themself. And you were told we can support them further by helping them to cut themselves even more by doing away with entire limbs.

Also you discover that to ensure we are fully supporting them, schools are being required to teach that cutting yourself is perfectly healthy and acceptable. Those people who speak out against it are labeled as hateful. They are accused of wanting the cutters to be dead or of wishing they didn’t exist at all. They are portrayed as mean and bigoted and backwards thinking.

The cutters fly flags to show that they are proud of cutting themselves. They form a whole culture around cutting and they have parades to celebrate their freedom to cut. And other people who want to show that they are good people and support the cutters also fly flags to show that they are allies of the cutters.

Doctors make lots of money helping people to “safely” eliminate unwanted body parts. Psychiatrists and pharmaceutical companies make lots of money selling drugs that shield the cutters from ever having to face their demons. The politicians along with the media fan the flames to keep people fighting about whether cutting should be allowed, meanwhile making all their back room deals unnoticed to gain even more power for themselves.

But the people who understand the spiritual implications, and the journey we are all on which requires us to bring together the polarities within ourselves see through these dark magic spells. They realize that drugs and cutting off body parts is not the answer. They do not want to model that behavior to their children.

They understand that we all have male and female within ourselves. Just as we have dark and light, the moon and the sun, joy and despair, front and back, left and right, inside and outside, yin and yang… Our great work is to unite these opposites and find balance. This is the lesson we are all sent here to learn.

As gnostic mystic Christians we understand we are facing one of the worst evil spells to be cast upon humanity by people who fully understand this foundational mystical concept perfectly but use it for their own gain. These ruffians have twisted this alchemical process in such a horrifying way as to make a mockery out of the internal work we all need to do. They encourage people to deny their own physical material temples given to them by God and to think they are victims of something gone horribly wrong with their bodies. Instead of helping people to understand that our body is always simply a messenger showing us the ever flowing way back home to God, they blame the messenger.

This, my friends, is obviously not hypothetical. It is but one of the many awful inversions of the truth in these times. As adults, it’s time to wake up.

She works with all ages—from preschoolers to elders—offering programs and celebrations that emphasize direct engagement with nature, music, story, homesteading skills, and in-person community.

She and her family live at the 21-acre Crossing Hedgerows Sanctuary, where daily life reflects a commitment to simplicity, beauty, and harmony with the land. The sanctuary includes gardens, woodland trails, a seasonal creek, gathering circles, and spaces designed to nourish both people and wildlife. Jean is especially passionate about creating environments that are grounding, beautiful, and spiritually restorative.

Through her writing and teaching, Jean encourages others to know themselves, know creation, and recognize Christ as the living truth present within and around us—always inviting a return to love, beauty, and the sacred order of life.
