We Stand in Solidarity

As we mourn the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and all the others who have lost their lives at the hands of those who have sworn to serve and protect, we at Crossing Hedgerows Sanctuary condemn in the most absolute terms racial injustice, white supremacy, and all legacies of systemic oppression.

Black Lives Matter. We have built our spiritual home on the principle of community, that all may gather in a hallowed place to honor our ancestors, gods, and spirits of the land. This includes those who are not in our direct bloodline, those who had no children, and those who we honor through spiritual affinity. This includes Black and Indigenous ancestors. Our community includes Black and Indigenous lives.

As part of our mission, the Sanctuary will continue to serve as a space where our Black and Indigenous brethren may gather safely. When we decolonize ourselves, we play a vital role in healing the traumatic rupture between people and the land, and between people and divinity. This is the beginning of healing the racial divisions that we have artificially sown among us. We stand in solidarity.
