For our Beltaine Celebration this year, we began with a walk in the woods to see the spring ephemerals, such as trilliums, jack-in-the-pulpits, and wild geraniums. (You can search this site to see pictures of our woods at this time of year!) We drove around to the back side of the property to hike in from the lane off the dirt road, as we don't currently have access from the house side. the SE stone in ...

Rescue Cats at CHS Homestead

We currently have eight cats at the CHS homestead that have all shown up on our doorstep with no owners to be found. Our local township rescue is full and overflowing, and they haven’t been able to take any of them. So we do the best we can for them.Last summer, Brennah built a “catio” for the two who live in our basement, so they can get outside a little bit.The video shows them going out in ...

Feast with the Faeries Photos

By |2026-03-18T19:36:48-04:00January 31st, 2026|Events & Celebrations, Free / Open Posts|

Our Feast with the Faeries event was SOOOOOOO enchanting in the best sort of way. The magical creatures were pleased beyond measure to have us recognize them and give them some love.   Jean   Brennah, Alissa and I held a little ceremony for them at the stone circle before heading out on our nature walk and the potluck following (which Dan joined us for). We could really feel them accompanying us along the way, ...

Sunrise - July 1st, 2023: A distinctive purple glow over the stone circleAs we head into July, I want to thank you all for your continued support of Crossing Hedgerows Sanctuary. Though we haven't been having as many events this year, the land continues to heal and is teaming with ever more life. Sometimes the bird song is almost deafening around here, and the varieties of insects, and animals passing through are too many to list. Yet ...

Event: Walk and Bonfire 🌺🌿

By |2026-03-13T02:15:57-04:00January 31st, 2026|Events & Celebrations|

Sunday, May 21st at 3pmEntering the sanctuary woods right now is like stepping into a fairyland. The forest floor is carpeted with purple and white spring ephemerals. Timing a walk to catch this at the optimal time is hard to do very far in advance, so we wanted to put out the call just at the right time (which is now!) before they all disappear. We invite you to join us for a guided walk by Jean and ...

Enchanted Forest and Stone Circle Photos 🌺🪨

By |2026-03-18T19:17:13-04:00January 31st, 2026|Events & Celebrations, Flora, Insects|

Last week's gathering was a magical time coming together with old friends and new. We didn't have a chance to take pictures during the event, but wanted to share a few of the photos that Brennah has taken this spring in the woods, as well as photos that I took of the stones that were collected and placed into the stone circle as offerings.   Trilliums with mossy log   Wild Geraniums (also known ...

The Sounds of Dawn

Spring is in the air as the sanctuary prepares for the sun to rise. I also love how the veins of the stones in the circle are somehow glowing in the dim light.   https://youtube.com/shorts/zF9Bx1as3Ac   Blessed Be, Jean

Your Spiritual Home

Members of Crossing Hedgerows Sanctuary are always welcome to visit and make use of the various spaces we have available. Last week, we added the beginnings of a stone circle ritual space. Since it is my personal ritual space (which I would also like to share with you), I alone dedicated and consecrated it. It is located at the Cavanaugh homestead, and not on the part of the land that is specifically designated as sanctuary land. Once ...
