You Are Not a Machine

"You are not a machine. You're a soul who needs music, connection, sunsets, laughter, and small pockets of joy. Prioritize them like your life depends on it - because it does."  - Vex King   Those sublime moments are really what it's all about. Being able to recognize them, take them in, and help others to do the same gives life meaning. Knowing how to say no to that which drains you and constantly keeps you away ...

Being Healthy Isn’t Fancy

Do you tend to put on the back burner the simple things that you know are good for you, but then get frustrated that you've gotten sick? (Me, me, me! I am raising my hand over here!) Even the major illnesses that we sometimes think we need fancy medicine to fix are caused by (and can usually be cured by) making sure to take responsibility for our own health and well-being on a daily basis. Prioritizing all ...

What makes a place sacred? I truly believe that when a place is visited over and over again with reverence, and when people walk the same paths to visit special sites, where the spirits of the land are recognized and offerings are made, then that place becomes more and more sacred over time. There is an energy that resides there, of a place that has had healing... and of a place that is seen and known in ...

We had another beautiful time of connecting with the the spirits of the land and each other yesterday. We started with collecting nasturtium and marigold seeds to save for next year. Brennah had already begun collecting them, but having several people doing it was a fun project. By |2026-03-18T18:28:31-04:00January 31st, 2026|Birds, Events & Celebrations, Flora|

We had a  relaxing gathering yesterday. Singing males sit ...

Excerpt from The Overstory by Richard Powers: The judge asks her to elaborate. Dennis was right It is like talking to students. She describes how a rotting log is home to orders of magnitude more living tissue than the living tree. "I sometimes wonder whether a tree's real task on Earth isn't to bulk itself up in preparation to lying dead on the forest floor for a long time." The judge asks what living things might need ...
