Our second Family Mystery School gathering this week was once again a delight!

The amazing flow chart that Amy made for our meetups to help the kids follow along with where we’re at in the time together.

A beautifully illustrated children’s Bible for reading the Creation Story.

Jean leading the art project. The kids collected their own sticks on the walk we took together.

Cutting the sticks for the stars

Making sure the sticks are all the same size.

Working on the Stick Stars

Working on the stick stars.

Tiny hands holding her stick star.

He is working patiently to make his star.

He knows what he is doing!

Artist at work.

The finished stars hanging on the wall at home.

Star worksheet to learn about the constellation Cygnus (or the Northern Cross) at home.

Learning about the Greek myth that goes with the constellation.

We even did a little math together!

Learning about dice and the concept of “six around one”.

Learning about the directions of “six around one” and how these relate to The Creation Story found in the Bible.

A flower we found with six petals around its center. It’s one flower in the clusters of flowers found on Purple Loosestrife.

A star with two triangles… one pointing up and one pointing down -“As above, so below”.

Amy (who is a fellow member of the Gnostic Church and Academy of LJC) made the wonderful flow chart pictured above to help facilitate our meet-up, and it was so helpful! She later sent me this message:

“We had such a beautiful day. The kids were so lit up about their stars and exploring your woods! They were so excited to share everything with Jake (their dad).

And I am so excited about the lessons too! This one was an especially wonderful review of 6 around 1 and I’m so excited for what’s ahead! “

Our next meet-up will be Tuesday, September 9th at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

You are welcome to bring a picnic lunch, and we’ll take a break to enjoy a meal together.

Please kindly RSVP by Sunday, Sept. 7th so that I can plan accordingly.

With love and blessings,

✨Jean

Jean Cavanaugh is the founder and steward of Crossing Hedgerows Sanctuary, established in 2019 as a living, learning community devoted to reconnecting people with the wisdom of nature, the sacred order of creation, and the presence of Christ within all life. Her work brings together spiritual formation, ecological stewardship, ancestral wisdom, and hands-on community practice.

Through years of practical work on the land, study of the Mysteries, and the healing of her own severe health challenges through natural methods, Jean has come to recognize God’s hand at work throughout creation. Her teachings, rooted in the Mystery School tradition and Christian gnosis, explore how the patterns of heaven, earth, and the human body reveal the way back to divine presence, peace, and inner strength.

Jean leads with honesty, integrity, and a deeply welcoming spirit, inviting others to let go of inherited assumptions and rediscover truth through lived experience and embodied understanding. She works with all ages—from preschoolers to elders—offering programs and celebrations that emphasize direct engagement with nature, music, story, homesteading skills, and in-person community.

She and her family live at the 21-acre Crossing Hedgerows Sanctuary, where daily life reflects a commitment to simplicity, beauty, and harmony with the land. The sanctuary includes gardens, woodland trails, a seasonal creek, gathering circles, and spaces designed to nourish both people and wildlife. Jean is especially passionate about creating environments that are grounding, beautiful, and spiritually restorative.

Through her writing and teaching, Jean encourages others to know themselves, know creation, and recognize Christ as the living truth present within and around us—always inviting a return to love, beauty, and the sacred order of life.
