Full Moon Bonfires: Since many of the full moons this year line up with major events in the wheel of the year, we have chosen to combine celebrations in one weekend night of feasting and sharing around the bonfire.
This corresponds with our greater belief in honoring the sabbats as they make ecological sense within the environment of Southeastern Michigan, a place with long winters and short but vibrant seasons the rest of the year. A festival need not be celebrated on the exact date assigned to it by convention; our ancestors also likely celebrated the harvests as they made sense and not according to the Gregorian calendar (an invention of 1582!).
Edited to add: Due to the coronavirus outbreak and the concerns we all share in limiting gatherings of more than 10, as well as the food we share, we will assess our plans with each event as we move forward. This calendar will remain here to show our plans for the Sanctuary in general moving forward.
